2025 January Recap- Girls Varsity

New Year Rumble, Penn Manor, January 4th

Our girls kicked off the New Year at the Penn Manor New Year Rumble. We were down to two teammates, Sienna Landrum and Sarah Pearson, both battled their way to finals. Sienna took second place against a two time state champ and Sarah took her first first title, earning Penn Manor New Year Rumble Champion!

Big Red Duals Invitational- Souderton, PA Jan 11th

Next up was Souderton Big Red Girls Invitational alongside the boys who were competing in the Big Red Duals. Sarah was our only girls competitor due to injuries for Sienna and Skylar. Sarah battled her way to take 3rd place going 4-1. Keep up the momentum Sarah!

Coal Cracker, Jim Thorpe, January 17th-18th

The third event of the month for our girls team is the coveted two day event in Jim Thorpe, PA, Coal Cracker Invitational. Again Sarah is our lone competitor but traveled with Sienna by her side. Sarah had a stellar day on the mat, sweeping through with a 5-0 record with four pins climbing her way to the top of the podium and earning the Coal Cracker Champion status. We are beyond proud of Sarah for her hard work and dedication!

Battle of the Buck, January 26th

Sarah, still holding strong as our only wrestler healthy to step on the mat continued her winning streak and captured another first place finish and bracket to hang on the wall. Sarah went 4-0 pinning her way to finals where secured her spot at the top of the podium with a decision win. Great job Sarah, way to represent West so well!

West vs. Coatesville, January 29th

Our ladies had a unique chance this season to compete at home under the lights and alongside their boys' team. Coatesville, with their impressive lineup, graciously offered our girls this opportunity. Although Coatesville won by default, our ladies secured wins for the matches wrestled. Sarah Pearson faced Avaree Clemnson first, securing a fall at 1:14, paving the way for Sienna Landrum. Sienna, who had been sidelined since January 4th due to an injury, managed to achieve a pin against Gabrielle Costa in just 1:09.

We took the time to celebrate our seniors, and it was wonderful to see Sienna and Sarah competing alongside their male teammates.

Not every season unfolds as planned. Sienna Landrum had set ambitious goals for this year, aiming for her fourth state medal, but her recent injury has cut her senior season shorter than anticipated. Unfortunately, she will not be able to join Sarah in the postseason. While this is disappointing for all who enjoy watching Sienna wrestle, we are confident that she has a bright wrestling future ahead, and we look forward to cheering her on as she competes at West Liberty University this fall.

Sarah still has one more tournament before entering the girls' postseason, and we are eager to support her journey to Hershey.
