/West traveled to Avon Grove, and while the outcome wasn't what we hoped for, the match showcased a clear division: Avon Grove excelled in the upper weights, whereas Downingtown West dominated the lower weights. West won 6 matches, while Avon Grove claimed 7, edging ahead by a single decision.
Jacob Barry kicked off the night demonstrated remarkable effort in his match against Diego Abreu. It was a fiercely contested bout that extended into sudden takedown overtime, but Jacob ultimately lost by decision.
Unfortunately, Avon Grove secured the next five matches, four by pin, shifting the momentum in their favor. The tides began to turn at 107 pounds, where Mason Sigle put on an impressive performance against Noah Smith, narrowly losing by decision with a score of 6-3, exemplifying a competitive spirit.
Patrick Markey reignited our team's enthusiasm by pinning Jack Bauman in just one minute, granting us a vital 6 points and boosting our morale.
At 121 pounds, Shaefer Hoffman stepped into the 121 weight class achieving a solid notable by decision against Noah Parsons, winning 5-0. Brayden Sigle maintained the momentum with a quick pin of Jacob McCullin, chipping away at Avon Grove's lead. Chase Sigle showcased his talent with a tech fall victory over Colin Wachs at 4:40, further narrowing the score to 35-20. Levi Richmond added to our successes with a pin against Shane Sloan in just 1:24. Finally, Camden Walker concluded the match with a pin of Gabe Kitchen in 1:01, earning us 6 more points.
Though we faced a challenging loss, it ultimately came down to one match. The standout performances from our lighter weights highlighted the determination and skill of Downingtown West. We know the talent is there in our upper weights and we will regroup and return stronger for the next match!
