2024 Trojan Wars- Varsity
/2024 MyHOUSE Trojan Wars High School Results for Downingtown West
This past weekend, our wrestlers journeyed to Chambersburg, PA, for their annual participation in the MyHouse Trojan Wars. Our Varsity lineup kicked off Day 1 bright and early Saturday morning, where our athletes secured victories and advanced throughout the day. We had four wrestlers continue to day two securing three spots on the podium and one in finals.
Shafer Hoffman, who earned an impressive 2nd place finish. During the championship rounds, Shafer demonstrated his prowess with a stunning tech fall victory over Nolan Coryell, concluding the match at 19-2. His tournament journey included a quick fall against Donavan Evans in just 1 minute and 34 seconds during Round 3, followed by a decisive win by decision against Jacob Carr, where he triumphed 10-5 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Shafer continued to shine with a 6-2 decision over Jason Foutz. Although he faced challenging competition in the final match against Royce Wetzler, losing by tech fall with a score of 17-1, Shafer’s performance throughout the tournament showcased his dedication and grit he gives every time he steps on the mat.
Brayden Sigle secured 6th place. He began with a technical fall victory against Quinn Carr. Following that, he won by decision over Noah Rankin but faced a narrow defeat by Dallas Owens in the quarterfinals. During the consolation rounds, Brayden claimed victories over Jacob Lauby and Luca Schinelli, but ultimately lost to Zach Sherman in the semifinals and again to Noah Rankin in the 5th place match. Brayden battled through every match to the very last seconds of each round, leaving it all on the mat.
Levi Richmond finished 8th, securing his first Trojan meda, he kicked off his weekend with a victory by fall over Dylan Hagen in 1:41. After a close match loss in the third round, he rebounded in the consolation rounds with wins by fall against Michael Segata, a major decision over Jackson Lininger, and a decision against Miles Hinson. Unfortunately, he was narrowly defeated in sudden victory by Dawson Lomison and lost the 7th place match to Colin Walther by decision. Levi wrestled hard and demonstrated remarkable resilience throughout the tournament. His ability to bounce back after a tough loss and continue pushing forward in the consolation rounds speaks volumes about his determination and skill.
As a team, we achieved 18th place among 47 schools from Pennsylvania and neighboring states. The weekend was filled with outstanding wrestling, opportunities for personal growth, and strong team bonding. We are extremely proud of all our Varsity wrestlers. After a brief break, the team will return to the mat for their first home match of the season on January 8th.
