2025 Chester County Challenge

Our West Wrestling hosted the annual Chester County Challenge for local Middle School Teams this weekend. It was a great day of wrestling, thank you to all those to volunteered their time and help for a very successful day of wrestling for our middle schoolers.

At the 2025 Chester County Challenge, Downingtown's varsity team had notable performances across various weight classes:

  • Walker Hoffman (80 lbs): Claimed 1st place with a total of 25.5 team points. He advanced through the rounds with a bye, two falls, and finished with a tech fall in the championship match.

  • Joel Pate (87 lbs): Finished 4th, earning 15.0 team points. He had three falls for the day taking 4th, going 3-2.

  • Luke Anthony (94 lbs): Took 2nd place and scored 17.5 team points. After a bye and a tech fall victory, he won by decision in the semifinals but fell to Ben Kamertz in the finals, 2-1 for the day.

  • Joseph Pearson (101 lbs): Secured 1st place with 26.0 team points. He won all his matches by fall, including in the final against Sergio DiCicco, 3-0.

  • Andrew Helms (108 lbs): Placed 4th with 12.0 team points. After a bye and a fall victory, he lost in the semifinals but won a major decision in the consolation semi, went 2-2.

  • Conner McGeehan (115 lbs): Finished 2nd and scored 20.0 team points after winning two matches by fall and losing a close decision in the finals, going 2-1.

  • Tristan Pishock (122 lbs): Placed 4th with 13.0 team points going 2-2 for the day with two falls.

  • Hunter Nathan (130 lbs): Hunter went 2-2 for the day winning by fall and major.

  • Brandon MacInnis (138 lbs): Achieved 1st place with 26.0 team points, winning all his matches, including the final by fall, going 3-0.

  • Madison Helms (145 lbs): Took 3rd place with 16.0 team points. She won her first match by fall but lost in the semifinals before securing 3rd place through a forfeit going 3-1.

The JV had a great day with some victories and many personal wins in round-robin style brackets at their weight class.

Michael Clinger placed 3rd, 1-2.

Zach Duff took 2nd place, 2-1.

Wyatt Bentley placed 3rd, 2-2.

Chase Chandler finished 2nd, 2-1.

Zach Friez claimed 1st place, 3-0.

Brayden Ellingsworth also secured 1st place, 3-0.

Brayden Schwanke placed 1st, 3-0.

Sean Gannon finished 1st, 3-0.

Trenton Waltman earned 2nd place, 2-1.

Devin Goine took 1st place, 3-0.

Caleb Starnes finished 2nd, 2-1.

Vedant Bhalerao secured 3rd place, 1-2.

Evan Doust finished 2nd, 2-1.

Drew Garthwaite placed 3rd, 1-2.

Downingtown Middle School took the team trophy earning a solid 177 points, 36 points ahead of the runner up, Avon Grove Middle School.

Overall, Downingtown had a strong showing with multiple first-place finishes and several wrestlers placing in the top three of their respective brackets. Most importantly, our wrestlers had a great day on the mat hitting personal wins!
