2024 Preseason at West

The wrestling season at Downingtown West is officially underway, and anticipation is building for the upcoming tournaments. With a promising influx of freshmen, the team is poised for success.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Brad Breese, now in his 10th year, the Whippets are looking to improve upon last season's 3-2 division record and 6-11 overall performance.

Key wrestlers to watch include seniors Chase Sigle (133 lbs) and Levi Richmond (139 lbs), both of whom finished sixth in the region last year. Other notable wrestlers include junior Brayden Sigle (121 lbs), freshman Shaefer Hoffman (107 lbs), and senior Isaac Russell (285 lbs). Hoffman is recognized as one of the top freshmen in the state, while Russell is expected to gain momentum following the conclusion of his football season. Mason Sigle noted as honorable mention in top incoming freshmen report.

As usual the Whippets face a challenging tournament schedule kicking off in early December, ranked fourth in the area with several wrestlers making the regional rankings: Hoffman (107 lbs), Brayden Sigle (121 lbs), Chase Sigle (133 lbs), Richmond (139 lbs), and Russell (285 lbs).

Additionally, the girls’ team is gearing up for another competitive season, led by nationally ranked senior Sienna Landrum and state qualifier Sarah Pearson, as girls’ wrestling continues to grow in Pennsylvania.
